Locally owned and operated since 2000, Orchard Crest is Spokane Valley’s premier retirement community. Founders Jaclin Smith and Norm & Susanne Lunt bring decades of expertise in retirement living, healthcare, and hospitality. Their mission is simple: create a place where older adults don’t just live—they thrive.
Our Community
Residents enjoy a wide variety of activities—from exercise classes, musical performances, and games, to outings for lunch or casino trips. Resident input plays a vital role in shaping our monthly calendar, ensuring programs reflect the interests of our community.
Dining
We believe dining should be an enjoyable experience. Orchard Crest features two welcoming dining rooms: the Mt. Spokane Room in our main building and the Latah Room in Assisted Living. Our Executive Chef, who brings experience from various high-end restaurants and catering establishments, crafts diverse weekly menus with plenty of choices. We also accommodate special and therapeutic diets, ensuring every meal is both delicious and personalized.

Our Founders
Jaclin Smith
Jaclin Smith began her career in retirement living in 1964 while still in college in Bellevue, Washington. What started as a summer job became a lifelong calling. With over 65 years of experience, she has been instrumental in developing more than 70 communities across Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Nevada, Wisconsin, and Iowa—representing more than 10,000 rooms.
Susanne Lunt
Susanne Lunt began her career as an Occupational Therapist, with a passion for creating environments that support independence and wellness. She later earned a Master’s Degree in Business and has held senior leadership roles in several premier communities in the Seattle and Bellevue area. With over 40 years of experience, Susanne blends her expertise in architecture, business, and healthcare to create homes that truly serve older adults—not just places to live, but places to belong.
Norm Lunt
Norm Lunt was called to this field in 1985 when he moved to Spokane to manage a retirement and assisted living community. With a strong background in faith, outreach, and healthcare, he partnered with Jaclin to bring Orchard Crest to life.
