Every person has a story—and our residents have lived some remarkable ones.
In recognition of World Alzheimer’s Day, Orchard Crest residents took part in a lighthearted activity celebrating who they were, who they are, and the many experiences that have shaped their lives.
Each resident held a sign sharing a glimpse into their younger years: “Before I was 85, I was a nurse,” along with a photograph of themselves as a young adult. To make the occasion even more memorable, residents dressed for the part with playful costumes and wigs.

The resulting slideshow is fun and endearing, but its message goes much deeper. Older adults are so much more than their age or a diagnosis. They are professionals, parents, spouses, friends, caregivers, adventurers, artists, and community members. Their memories and life experiences deserve to be recognized, shared, and celebrated.
Activities like this also give residents opportunities to reminisce, express themselves, and connect with others. A photograph, familiar occupation, or story from the past can open the door to meaningful conversations with staff, friends, and family members.
At Orchard Crest, we feel privileged to know the people behind these wonderful stories. World Alzheimer’s Day reminds us to approach every person with patience, compassion, dignity, and curiosity—because there is always more to someone’s story than what we see today.
We hope you enjoy this special glimpse into the lives of our residents. Which story or transformation made you smile?
